Commemorative Iolaire Enamel Poppy Pins return to Stornoway

The unique badge was hugely popular during the centenary commemorations in 2018, with more than 10,000 of the special issue selling, including 1,000 in the first eight hours on sale.

Sales of the badge supported the funding of local commemorative events including the Iolaire concert and torchlight parade held in Stornoway on 31 December 2018 and the memorial service on 1 January 2019.

Last year, the Iolaire Centre ran a public poll on their Facebook page to seek public opinion on whether a return of the commemorative badge would be welcomed. Out of the 322 votes cast, an overwhelming 94% of people voted in favour of bringing the badge back for Remembrance Day 2020.

Announcing the return of the badge, the group said: “Following great demand last year, we are pleased to inform you that the commemorative Iolaire enamel poppy pin is available to purchase this year.

“The pins cost £3 and can be ordered from Poppy Scotland, or purchased locally at An Lanntair and Events in Stornoway”
