Cadet Karen Logue (13), from 1st Battalion The Highlanders’ West Lewis Detachment, was awarded her “Bandsman” Badge for her representation in the various music videos that the Army Cadet Force produced over lockdown to help raise people’s spirits.

Throughout lockdown Karen has taken part in several online performances. Two of them were with the Army Cadet Force Scotland Music Band, where she performed “Heroes of St Valery”, as part of the St Valery 80th Anniversary commemorations in June, and a performance of the “79th Farewell to Gibraltar”.

Cadet Logue also took part in a performance of “Wild Mountain Thyme” with the Battalion’s new traditional music band, that was launched entirely in lockdown, which is the first band of its kind in the Army Cadet Force and saw the musicians perform traditional folk music of the Highlands & Islands.

Cdt Logue was presented with her Bandsman Badge by the Western Isles Company’s Training Officer and West Lewis Detachment Commander Captain Alexander MacIver (52).

All of the performances can be viewed on the Army Cadet Force Scotland Music page on Facebook at: facebook.com/1hldrsacf and the Battalion’s own YouTube Channel.
