Contractors arrived at the Ormiclate site this week to start work on a nine month build to create a new furniture and textile recycling facility for Cothrom Ltd in South Uist.

The ReStore project will move from its current premises in Bornish into a building with lots of extra storage space, a range of different workshops and a much larger shop.

The development will provide not only additional space but double the number of training places and apprenticeships for young people, as well as additional opportunities for work experience.

Barbara MacDonald, Manager thanked the funders for their interest in Cothrom and this exciting project.

The cost of development, £961,990 has been funded by The Big Lottery, Scottish Government Regeneration Capital Grants Fund, Highlands and Islands Enterprise, Comhairle nan Eilean Siar, LandAid, SnBM Community Fund and The Western Isles Development Trust.
