Evangelist co-ordinator appointed

Mr Iain Murdo Macleod of Tong, Lewis, has been formally appointed to the post of Evangelism Co-ordinator to the Western Isles Presbytery of the Free Church for a period of three years commencing on August 1.

The post aims to consolidate and enhance the work that is already being carried out within the Western Isles with regard to evangelical outreach, with a particular focus on adults.

Mr Macleod signed the contract at a meeting of the Presbytery held at Carnish Free Church in North Uist on Tuesday when he addressed the meeting of his vision for the work. A special presbytery service to mark the appointment will be held on Wednesday, August 24, in the M A Macleod Hall at Stornoway.

Aged 52, Mr Macleod was Station Fire Officer at Stornoway with the the Highland and Islands Airport for several years before deciding to study for the ministry and graduated three years ago with an BA in Theology Studies from the Highland Theological College which is part of the University of the Highlands and Islands. He is a married man with a family of four.
