Faroese express an interest in summit

A proposal for the Faroese Government to participate in an islands summit emerged this week following a meeting at Westminster between Western Isles MP, Angus MacNeil and representatives of the Faroese Government.

The Faroese Government has expressed their desire to take part in the summit, to be held in Stornoway with Comhairle nan Eilean Siar, Orkney Islands Council and Shetlands Islands Council.

Commenting Angus MacNeil MP said: “The Scottish Islands have much in common with the Faroe Islands such as fishing and tourism. I have therefore written to Comhairle nan Eilean Siar to ask if they would be willing to accommodate this request.”
