Today’s examinations – Building Construction, Managing Environmental Resources and Early Education and Childcare at Higher and Managing Environmental Resources at Intermediate 1 and 2 – are the last in a 28-day process administered by the Scottish Qualifications Authority.

This year more than 500,000 examinations were taken.

In addition to exams at National 5, Intermediate, current Higher and Advanced Higher, new Higher exams were taken for the first time this year. In addition, a range of National 1 to National 4 qualifications, Awards, Skills for Work, National Progression Awards and National Certificates have been undertaken this year.

The results are due out on Tuesday, August 4.

Ms Constance said: “Across Scotland, a huge amount of effort has gone into all this year’s qualifications, and more than 500,000 exams have been taken over the last 28 days. This has been the culmination of lots of hard work over the school year to prepare pupils for qualifications including the new Higher.

“To every pupil or student, who has sat examinations or completed coursework-based qualifications, I would like to say well done on all your hard work. I hope you can now enjoy a relaxing summer break. And to today’s candidates, I wish you the best of luck.

Parents, teachers and schools have had a crucial role to play and I want to thank them for supporting our young people to do their best.

“The Scottish Government, with the Scottish Qualifications Authority and Education Scotland, is working to support the delivery of Curriculum for Excellence and give teachers the freedom they need to carry on delivering our world-class curriculum.”
