Stornoway Port Authority will be hosting an Official launch and book signing event tonight (Friday) in the Woodlands Centre, Stornoway.

Writer Donald S. Murray and artist Douglas Robertson will be promoting a very special book- SY StorY – A Portrait of Stornoway Harbour, as a part of Stornoway Port Authority’s 150th Anniversary celebrations.

Lewisman Donald S Murray tells in his inimitable verse and prose the story of Stornoway harbour from the days when Mesolithic people sheltered there to its present day life as a bustling, modern harbour, casting light on men and boats, native herring girls and island visitors, the town’s triumphs and tragedies. Accompanying the work are 20 striking illustrations from Douglas Robertson, as well as over 30 photographs. All of this comes together to capture both the past and present of the port, making the book a rare delight.

This will be a lively, inspiration-packed event you won’t want to miss. On arrival light refreshments will be served.

All are welcome to this event which will commence at 7pm.
