First Island Games medal for Western Isles

The Western Isles team have got off to a flying start at the NatWest Island Games picking up bronze in the ladies half marathon team event.

Running duo, Doleen Galbraith and Kirsty Haxby got on the podium as fellow runner, Donald Macleod set a blistering time of 1:57.12 in his heat in the men’s 800 metres, making him the fastest qualifier in the finals on Tuesday.

The athletics, football and swimming teams are all in action today (Monday).
