The Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI), is calling on people across Scotland to step up to the plate and host a Fish Supper this Autumn, in honour of lifeboat crew who miss meal times and special occasions with loved ones to save lives at sea.

The RNLI is encouraging people to host a fish-themed dinner party with friends or family between 14-16 October, to raise vital funds for the charity which saves lives at sea.

In 2015 alone, the charity’s lifeboats launched 8,228 times and its volunteers rescued 7,973 people across the UK and Republic of Ireland. This includes 348 people who would have died if not for being saved by the RNLI.

Guests are invited to make a donation to the RNLI whilst the host cooks up a storm. All proceeds from Fish Supper will help provide the best equipment and training for RNLI volunteers.

Police Scotland

Scotland needs an increasingly resilient, flexible, responsive and locally-focused police service to help keep communities safe.

This is the message at the heart of the new Strategic Police Priorities set by the Scottish Government, which also recognise the need to tackle new and developing threats to the public, including cybercrime. Localism, inclusion, prevention, responsiveness, collaborative working, accountability and adaptability are the seven themes that will inform policing priorities in Scotland in the years to come.

There is confidence that the new Strategic Police Priorities, developed following public consultation, will ensure Police Scotland remain a progressive and forward-looking service.
