Rev. Lamont began his ministry in Rosskeen Free Church as the Assistant Minister under Rev Kenny Macdonald, and then became the minister of Rosskeen when Kenny retired.

He spent 11 years serving in Rosskeen before sensing a strong calling from God, and the church, to be the minister of St Columba’s Free Church in Edinburgh.

He has been minister in St Columba’s for over 15 years, and has been privileged to be part of a growing Gospel movement within the congregation and in Edinburgh as a whole.

He follows in the steps of his father (Donald) and grandfather (Farquhar Matheson) in being nominated as Moderator Designate, and counts that a great honour, in their memory.

Speaking of his appointment, Rev. Lamont said: “It’s an exciting time to serve in the Free Church as we face the challenges of sharing the Gospel in what is often regarded as a post Christian society.

“But we are seeing God’s grace transforming lives and, against all the odds, churches growing and new ones starting.

“To be elected as Moderator designate of our General Assembly in the face of these challenges is an honour and a privilege.”
