Free Gaelic classes

Iomairt Ghàidhlig Iar Thuath Leòdhais is delivering Gaelic classes in the area (Ness, Barvas & Shawbost) to introduce learners to the language.

These classes, designed for beginners, will be free of charge and will run for six weeks.

They will aim to provide learners with vocabulary and conversational skills, with the intention of building a foundation for further learning of the language.

At the end of the six weeks, it is hoped a local learners’ group will be established to plan and co-ordinate the way forward for further classes.

As well as the teaching method used to deliver these classes, students will also have an opportunity to take part and sample the Ulpan method of learning.

Iomairt Ghàidhlig Iar Thuath Leòdhais is working in partnership with the Community Education Department, Comhairle nan Eilean Siar in the delivery of these classes.

Classes will begin at the following venues and times:

Barvas – Wednesday (beginning 2nd November) - 7.30 – 9pm, Barvas School

Ness – Thursday (beginning 3rd November) - 7.30 – 9pm, Spòrs Nis

Shawbost – Thursday (beginning 3rd November) - 7.30 – 9pm, Ionad na Seann Sgoil
