With the recent Fuel Poverty Report published by The Energy Advisory Service showing that 71% of homes in the Western Isles are in fuel poverty, The Energy Advisory Service (TEAS) and Tighean Innse Gall (TIG) are hosting a Fuel Poverty Conference at the An Lanntair Arts Centre, Stornoway on Tuesday, March 24th from 9.30am to 4pm.
This is a major event bringing together government policy makers and front line staff in order to discuss and prompt action to alleviate fuel poverty.
The conference will look at the definition of fuel poverty alongside the Western Isles demographics, as well as looking further afield by looking at what other areas are doing to help homes in fuel poverty.
Conference speakers include Professor Sir John Hills and Professor Anne Power from The London School of Economics, Professor Christine Liddell from The University of Ulster, Greg McCracken from Age Scotland and Norman Kerr from Energy Action Scotland.
Angus Campbell Leader of Comhairle nan Eilean Siar and Stewart Wilson TIG Director will also be addressing the conference.
