Funding opportunity for island charities

ADVICE on how to seek funding support is to be given the charities in the Outer Hebrides at an event in Stornoway on Tuesday, April 19.

Local charity representatives are being invited to discuss their funding needs at an advice surgery to be held by the Lloyds TSB Foundation for Scotland in the offices of Third Sector Hebrides at the Lewis Voluntary Resource Centre, 30 Francis Street, Stornoway.

The consultation is a chance for representatives of registered charities to discuss potential projects towards which the Foundation may be able to provide financial support. Foundation staff will be able to give tips on filling in the application form and advice on the kind of projects that may be funded.

Mary Craig OBE, the Foundation’s Chief Executive, said: “This is an excellent opportunity for charities in the Outer Hebrides to find out how they can apply to us for much-needed funds. We are keen to make awards to charities which benefit disadvantaged people in our society.”

In its most recent funding round, announced in February, the Foundation made awards totalling more than £178,000 to 32 Scottish charities.

Charities wishing to attend the surgery can make a 45minute appointment for a one-to-one consultation with one of the Foundation’s staff by phoning 0131 444 4020.
