Funeral for Bernera Count

The former Queen’s Herald Count, Robin de la Lanne-Mirrlees, who lived on Great Bernera, passed away on Saturday aged 87.

The French-born, Oxford-educated aristocrat, who was impersonated by the fictional secret agent James Bond in Ian Fleming’s novel On Her Majesty’s Secret Serice – died in the Blar Buidhe nursing home in Stornoway.

He was the owner of Bernera and was a popular member of the community where he was affectionately known as The Count.

His funeral will be held tomorrow (Tuesday) at 12 noon in the Bernera Church of Scotland.
