An exciting line-up of emerging acts have been announced – including two from the Western Isles – for the well-established goNorth Seedlings Stage at Belladrum Tartan Heart Festival (8th/9thAugust) as part of the North Star arena for breaking talent.

Along with Lewis songstress Eleanor Nicolson and island rockers Broken Ravens, the host of new talent includes Hector Bizerl; Neon Waltz; Hunter and The Bear; Cryptic Keys; Ollie Forrest, and Searching for Donkeys amongst many many more.

The North Star arena for breaking acts will include the goNorth Seedlings Stage plus ‘The Boatshed Sessions,’ a leading web platform for music which captures inspiring music with unrivalled audio and visual production.

The UHI Verb garden will feature an artist development seminar and Q&A session, panelists confirmed to date include Ally Macrae (BBC Radio 1), Michael Lambert (A Modern Way Management), Peter Noble (UHI Course Leader for Music and Sound Production) and Steve Robertson (Booker Hootananny/Belladrum).

“Emerging talent , especially from the Highlands, has always been an important part of what Bella offers its audience,” said festival promoter Joe Gibbs.

“This year, with our excellent partner goNorth who have done so much work in this sphere in the Highlands, we are increasing our emphasis on this exciting area with the creation of a new arena, the addition of The Boatshed Sessions, and the inclusion of help and advice for breaking musicians.”

And goNORTH Project Manager Alex Smith added: “We are delighted to be returning to Belladrum with a fantastic selection of artists from this year’s showcase list.

“The festival continues to show a strong commitment to supporting new music and the goNORTH Seedlings Stage is a great platform for the Belladrum audience to access some of the most exciting new talent in Scotland.”

The legendary Tom Jones is to headline the Friday of the festival while the Saturday night features the popular rock band Razorlight at the top of the bill.

Frightened Rabbit will return to the event as very special guests. Also featured will be: Bill Bragg; Band of Skulls; Grandmaster Flash; The Temperance Movement; I Am Kloot; Adrian Emondson & The Bad Shepherds; Catfish & The Bottlemen; nine below zero; The Mekons with Robbie Fulks; Casual Sex; Roddy Hart & The Lonesome Fire; George Barnett; The New Picadilly’s; Esperanza; The vatersay Boys; Danny & The Champions Of The World; brownbear; Torridon; The Big Fat Electric Ceilidh Band; Raintown; Call To Mind; Randolph’s Leap; Luke Jackson; Dorec-a-Belle; The Lorelei; Scooty & The Skyhooks; Mad Dog McRea; The Singing Kettle; Caledonian Ceilidh Trail and Holly Atkinson from Inverness, the 2013 winner of Bella’s Got Talent. Many more artists are still to be announced.
