Labour Party members welcomed Gordon Brown to Tannochside as the general election campaign moved into its final stages.
The former Prime Minister is stepping down as an MP in Fife, but is still very much a political heavyweight.
Mr Brown was credited with turning around the No side’s fortunes with his late intervention in the independence referendum campaign last year.
Labour were hoping his visit to North Lanarkshire would boost their prospects as they attempt to fend off the SNP’s national surge.
Tom Clarke’s Coatbridge, Chryston and Bellshill constituency was thought to be one of the safest Labour seats in Britain, but polls suggest even that could go to the SNP.
Mr Brown addressed supporters at Kew Gardens sheltered housing complex where the audience included Mr Clarke and North Lanarkshire Council leader Jim McCabe.
