A series of live concerts showcasing some of the leading performers at this year’s 20th anniversary Hebridean Celtic Festival will be broadcast live on BBC Radio nan Gàidheal.
The station is airing shows over the next three days.
Today Caithream Ciuil will be presented from Martin’s Memorial Hall.by Seonag Monk and will feature live performances from Alasdair White, who has written a specially-commissioned musical suite ‘An Iuchar’ which will be premiered at the festival anniversary.
Kathleen Macinnes, Garry Innes, Ewen Henderson and Allan Henderson, from the Shinty’s Heroes show, will also perform live, as will Scots singer Siobhan Wilson and bluegrass /folk singer Vincent Cross.
On Friday, from 3p.m.-5p.m., presenter Coinneach Smith will again be in the Martin’s Memorial Hall and will welcome Quebec band Le vent du Nord, Mull singer-songwriter Sorren Maclean and Lewis singer Alyth McCormack.
BBC Radio nan Gàidheal music producer John Murray said: “We are delighted to be working with the festival again, particularly in its 20th year. It’s always enjoyable, well organised and the breadth and quality of the line-up is great.”
Caroline Maclennan, the HebCelt director, added: “The Radio nan Gàidheal live events are a big attraction during festival week and we are delighted to have their support once again to help showcase events on stage.”
The 20th HebCelt, will hosts a wide-ranging programme of events in the main festival arena and an Lanntair arts centre as Stornoway, as well as in communities across Lewis and Harris.
