A church will welcome its first ever minister, after a packed hall voted the Reverend Hugh Ferrier into the new position.
At a a meeting of the congregation, Reverend Hugh Ferrier’s acceptance was intimated to the Western Isles Presbytery, He received a unanimous vote of confidence.
The Reverend was chosen to become minister of Stornoway’s High Free Church, which was accepted into the Free Church of Scotland community in October.

Reverend Ferrier told The Gazette he looks forward to spreading the gospel in Stornoway:
“I’m very excited but daunted to be bringing gospel to the community”, says Rev Ferrier, “both to those who are familiar with it and those who are not.”
The Reverend says he is praying for a future where he will bring Christ into the lives of more people. His induction date will be set September 30.
A statement from The High Free Church said the church and congregation are “truly grateful to God for His goodness in providing a minister for us.
“As we continue to look to the Lord, we look forward with expectant hearts and that we will surround Hugh with love, prayer and support.”
