A massive amount of shoeboxes, nearing 1300, were donated and collected by the Blythswood Shoe Box Appeal in Lewis and Harris.

All the boxes donated will be heading to Romania soon to aid and assist the less fortunate and organisers have issued their thanks to all who donated and helped in the collection of the boxes.

Lewis Blythswood would also like to thank DR Macleod, CalMax Construction, Comhairle nan Eilean Siar and Donnie Macsween for all their added support. The shoeboxes are scheduled to depart the island this week.

Sir E Scott School had a very good response again this year to the Blythswood Shoe Box Appeal.

A total of 117 boxes were donated to the appeal from the school and community. This year the S2 Year Group co-ordinated the Shoe Box Appeal as part of their Youth Achievement and Saltire

Awards, they also organised a Baking Sale which raised £129.50. Monetary donations from members of the community brought this total to £197.50, which will help to pay for the transport of the boxes to their destination.
