Human skull found on island beach

FORENSIC investigations are underway on a human skull found on a Western Isles beach.

Barra police are dealing with the find which was discovered by a member of the public on June 23rd.

The forensic examination will confirm if the remains are human and police said no other bones were found at the beach.

They added that there was no information to indicate that the find was connected to a recent death and that it was quite common to find old human bones and skulls washed up which have been eroded from the Western Isles’ coastal graveyards and burial sites.
