Catherine (Kate) Mackay celebrated her 100th Birthday on January 12 with a party for her friends and relatives in Dun Eisdean.

Kate is born and bred in Gravir, and worked as a nurse on the mainland for most of her life and was also a private children’s nanny.

She had 3 children, the late Duncan, Muriel who lives in Canada and Lena who lives in London.

Emma MacTaggart, Social Care Worker at Dun Eisdean, asked Kate what her secret to living a long life is. Kate said: “It’s all about staying active, I try to do as much as I can and I still feel very young at heart!”
