Young Scot, the national youth information agency for Scotland, has announced that Gemma Patterson from South Uist has been selected as a finalist in The Sunday Mail Young Scot Awards 2012.

Nineteen year old Gemma is a finalist in the Diversity and Citizenship category.

For the last few years, Gemma has been heavily involved with ‘see me’, Scotland’s national campaign to tackle the stigma and discrimination of mental ill-health.

Now in its seventh year, The Sunday Mail Young Scot Awards is a chance to celebrate the achievements of 11 - 26 year olds who have made a positive impact on the lives of others and who have made a real difference in their local community.

The awards recognise the passion and dedication shown by young people across the country and the three finalists from each of the 13 categories will be invited to a glittering awards ceremony in Glasgow’s Hilton Hotel on 26th April where X Factor winner Matt Cardle will wow guests with an outstanding acoustic set from his chart topping debut album, Letters.
