Nine-year-old Jock from Ayrshire has been enlisted to offer his expert opinion in the Dog Friendly Bar of the Year category of the Scottish bar and pub awards.

Organiser Susan Young said: “People might think it’s barking, but appointing a dog to sample some of the delights on offer in Scotland pub made perfect sense.

“Scottish Terrier Jock is the ideal choice.

“He is a very discerning dog, who knows when to paws for thought and deserves a pat on his back for his choices.”

The awards, which have been organised by DRAM magazine for 21 years, take place on August 16 at Glasgow’s city Hilton Hotel and are judged by experts in the industry as well as members of the public.

Among the categories are Whisky Bar of the Year, Gastro Pub of The Year, and Pub of the Year.
