Knock School back at heart of community

The former Knock School in Point could soon be back at the heart of the community with plans to create a multi-functional facility.

Urras Storas an Rubha are hoping to purchase the building from the Comhairle for £10,000.

Thursday’s meeting of the Policy and Resources Committee will consider an offer by the group to buy the building to create a cafe and shop as well as exhibition space for Comann Eachdraidh an Rubha; office accommodation for Point and Sandwick Power; storage and archive for the Rudhach community newspaper; a digitised archive for Tasglann nan Eilean Siar and more.

The council has already sold Bragar School and Balallan School to community groups for similar amounts of money.

The Property Panel met on August 6th and agreed on the basis that subject to conditions, the community Business Plan demonstrates a definite commitment by the group, that the offer be accepted.
