Knock Youth Club, in partnership with Community Learning and Development, recently ran their ‘Ready Steady Go’ Summer Club.
The club ran from Monday 30th June to Friday 4th July, in the Knock Hall and saw 20 young people taking part in activities all relating to the Commonwealth - learning about the Commonwealth countries, The Queens Baton Relay, Glasgow 2014 Games as well as taking part in team challenges and sports activities.
One young boy commented: “It was challenging but fun, I enjoyed the sports events at the sports centre and the prize giving.”
And one of the girls said: “I enjoyed doing the challenges and keep fit but I also enjoyed the leaders getting messy.”
The Youth Club would like to say a big thank you to Community Learning and Development, for funding and support. Thanks to Ross and Cromarty Educational Fund and our local councillors (Norman Macleod, Alasdair Macleod and Zena Stewart) for funding.
We would also like to thank Steven Munro for his input and encouragement that he gave us for the week, Carlys Yoga and Danni Wiseman for their help in the afternoon and also to Manus McGee, Health Promotion and Pursuit Hebrides!
The Eilean Siar Youth Legacy Ambassadors (YLAs) were exceptional helpers and thanks must go to Eleanor Smith, John Maciver, Tearlach Bardon and Peter Macdonald.
