Last chance to use your Will Power

Two island solicitors participating in this month’s Will Aid campaign are filling their appointments fast!

They are urging people who have not yet written a Will, or updated their existing Will, to act quickly to get their affairs in order and help charity at the same time.

The solicitors are donating their time to raise funds for nine popular charities, including Age UK, British Red Cross, NSPCC and Save the Children.

Instead of charging their usual fee for the service, they will invite the will maker to donate to the Will Aid charities. The suggested donation is just £90 for a single Will or £135 for a pair of mirror Wills.

2013 is Will Aid’s 25th anniversary campaign and the solicitors are aiming to raise a record amount to be put to work helping children families, older people and whole communities in the UK and around the world.

Shirley Marsland, Will Aid’s campaign Manager, said: “Solicitors in this town are going a great job offering their services to write Wills to raise funds for the Will Aid charities.

“There has never been a better time to make sure your family and loved ones are protected should the worst happen. Our recent survey showed that six in every ten people have not made a Will and they risk causing hardship and distress for those they love.

“It is a great mistake to believe that a husband, wife or partner will automatically inherit if someone dies without a Will. The laws of intestacy are complicated and loved ones could end up with some nasty surprises.

“Making a Will is easy, so take action now by contacting a friendly local solicitor to make your appointment.”
