Comhairle nan Eilean Siar has created a new Facebook page as part of a wider aim to further consult and engage with communities throughout the Western Isles.

The specific aim of the new page is to use the social media platform to extend community consultations on prominent themes affecting the islands.

The Comhairle Leader, Cllr Angus Campbell (pictured) will run question and answer sessions on a range of topics over the coming months, beginning with a one hour session on the Islands’ Bill on Thursday 10th December at 7pm.

“Having been involved in consultation meetings throughout our islands over recent years, on many different topics, I have regularly been asked whether we had considered including social media as a channel for people, particularly younger folk, to engage in the process. I am pleased that we are now in a positon to do so and would encourage all those on Facebook to ‘like’ the Comhairle nan Eilean Siar page and engage in the question and answer sessions.

“We value the views of our communities and it is critical that people air their views on topics that they feel strongly about. I am very much looking forward to engaging with our communities on Facebook and particularly look forward to the first session on the Islands’ Bill, which will have substantial implications for the future of these islands.”
