Leo's inspired look at the wild side of life

Three of his works were chosen from more than 800 submissions to appear alongside paintings, prints and sculpture by some of the best-known artists in the UK, and will go on show at the Mall Galleries in London between October 26 and November 6.

The annual exhibition by the Society of Wildlife Artists is recognised as the most prestigious and varied exhibition of wildlife art in the UK. and covers a range of subject matter inspired by the natural world.

Leo, now living in Burntisland, spends a week or two living and painting on the Isle of May each year, considering his time there to be the most productive weeks of his year.

The island is of key importance to many bird populations, not least the 50,000-plus pairs of puffins that breed there every summer.

It is designated as a European Special Protection Area for breeding seabirds, and a Special Area of Conservation to protect its seals and the rocky underwater reefs around the island.

Meanwhile Leo still keeps close contact with his home town, and will be taking -part in the Line Gallery’s annual postcards competition at 238 High Street, Linlithgow, which opens on Saturday, October 2i9 and runs until November 22.
