Leverburgh Lifeboat called to assist broken down fishing vessel

At 8.34am on Sunday 8th December, Stornoway Coastguard requested the assistance of Leverburgh Lifeboat after a fishing vessel had broken down on the east side of Harris.

The 13 metre creel boat had reported engine failure two miles south east of Stockinish. The vessel had two persons on board.

The RNLB The Royal Thames arrived on the scene at approximately 0930 hours. The crew of the Lifeboat attached a tow rope to the casualty and took the vessel to the shelter of Stockinish Harbour.

The Lifeboat was back in Leverburgh, refuelled and ready for service again at 12.25pm.
