The assistance of RNLB The Royal Thames was requested at 9.15am on Saturday 1st June.
A local fishing vessel, with two people on board had experienced engine failure whilst working along the shore at Cheesebay, North Uist.
The ten metre creel boat called on another fishing vessel, Phoenix, which was working close by. The crew of the Phoenix established a tow line between themselves and the casualty in order to keep the vessel away from the shore.
Leverburgh lifeboat reached the scene at approx 10.20am and proceeded to tow the vessel back to Leverburgh Pier.
RNLB The Royal Thames was back on station, refuelled and ready for service again at noon.
