Stornoway RNLI lifeboat and volunteer crew launched today, Friday, December 18th, at 0916hours to the aid of a stricken fishing boat.

The broken down boat, with two persons on board, was situated around 500 yards off the coast at Sheshader, Point, Isle of Lewis.

On arrival at the scene, in 35knot winds and a two metre swell, the RNLI crew established a tow line between the two vessels.

The ‘Tom Sanderson’ RNLI lifeboat towed the 40ft fishing boat to the safety of Stornoway harbour, returning alongside around 1310hours.
