Linda’s photographs used for calender

Stunning photographs of Afghanistan taken by aid worker Linda Norgrove before her tragic death are being used in a calender to raise funds for the foundation set up by her parents.

The aid worker, who grew up in the Western Isles, was working in Afghanistan for the second time when she was kidnapped and died in a failed rescue attempt in 2010.

A keen photographer, Linda had travelled extensively throughout the country she loved.

Images of high mountain ranges, remote valleys, and unusual rock formations sit alongside pictures of children in brightly coloured costumes and fierce horsemen talking part in buzkashi – Afghanistan’s national sport.

The calender, which is on sale for £10, has been sponsored by Lewis Builders. It is available for various outlets on the Western Isles and can be ordered through the website
