Local lady takes on London Triathlon

Jacky Scott from Brue will line up in less than three weeks’ time on 23rd September to swim, cycle and run in the Virgin Active London Triathlon.

It is the world’s largest triathlon with over 13,000 competitors and 30,000 spectators gathering over the weekend.

Jacky will contest the Olympic distance which is a 1.5km open water swim, 40km on the bike and then a 10km run.

She explained: “Having done three marathons a triathlon was a new challenge for me and being Olympic year it had to be the Olympic distance!”

Jacky is swimming, cycling and running the capital for Cancer Research. She added: “My aim is to complete the triathlon as a tribute to my best friend who died last year from cancer, she was just 42 years old, and I hope to raise lots of money for Cancer Research in doing so. Cancer touches us all in some way.

“My father-in-law also died from cancer earlier this year and my own father has had treatment for prostate cancer. It’s such a worthy charity to support.”
