A decision to award funding of £1m by Comhairle nan Eilean Siar for the Lochboisdale Harbour Regeneration Project has been warmly welcomed.
Talking of the decision by the Local Authority’s Policy and Resources committee, Councillor. Gerry MacLeod said: “This is extremely good news at a time when there is a great need for jobs and investment in the south end of South Uist.”
He added: “I hope this will mean that the funding package can be completed and that work can start very soon on a project that has been long anticipated by both the local community and the fishermen of the area. I had envisioned that this could be in the form of a non repayable grant but I have been advised that this is not possible.”
