Luskentyre Beach on Harris has been named as one of the top 100 travel experiences in the world.
Travel Magazine have compiled the guide which ranks the Harris beach alongside Brazil, Florida and South Africa.
The guide states: “It’s got Caribbean-white sand, Maldives-blue sea, but an average temperature of 7°C! It’s heart-racingly beautiful — and often empty.”
Western Isles MP Angus Brendan MacNeil said: “This is another fantastic tourism boost for the Isle of Harris and the Outer Hebrides.”
“I am not surprised that Luskentyre Beach has ranked alongside shorelines in Brazil, Florida and South Africa and is described as having Caribbean-white sand and Maldives blue sea.
“Luskentyre Beach is incredibly beautiful and worthy of this recognition and well worth a visit together with the many beaches in the Outer Hebrides such as the beaches in North Uist and Uig in Lewis, as well as every other island in the Hebrides.”
