Mail flights were back on schedule today following disruptions yesterday when both the mail plane and another freight plane were hit with technical issues.
Phil Preston, chief operating officer at Loganair, explained: “The Stornoway mail flight developed a technical fault en route from Inverness, and the pilot made the decision to return to Inverness while the required replacement part was immediately dispatched from Glasgow.
“The aircraft was fully operational by 5.15pm which was unfortunately too late to complete its service. Another freight plane was also affected by a technical issue, rendering it temporarily out of service.
“Both aircraft are now fully operational with mail flights to Stornoway and Benbecula being completed on schedule this morning.”
Mr Preston added: “We apologise for any inconvenience caused by this rare sequence of events.”
