People are being urged to lace up their walking shoes to help raise vital funds for Alzheimer Scotland Lewis and Harris by signing up to this year’s local 5k Memory Walk which is set to take place this Saturday 24th September, 1pm (registration from 12.30pm) from the Woodlands Centre, Lews Castle Grounds.

The Lewis and Harris Memory Walk aims to raise awareness and money to help support people living with dementia and their family members who are also affected.

Sonja MacLeod, Lewis and Harris Branch secretary said: “We are all very excited about our event this year. We had over 100 people join us last year and hope to have even more this year!

“We have planned various events for children again this year including bouncy castle, treasure hunts and balloon release so it looks set to be a fun day”.

Registration is £10 for adult walkers, £5 for 12-16 year olds and under 12s can walk for free. Raising sponsorship is optional. Tshirts are available on the day for £5.
