MP votes against military action

Western Isles MP Angus MacNeil was one of 285 MPs who voted against possible military action against Syria in parliament yesterday (Thursday).

A government motion was defeated by 285-272 ruling out joining US-led strikes.

Mr MacNeil asked Prime Minister David Cameron during the debate ‘if he knew if there were any plans over the last few days, for military action before next week?’

Mr MacNeil said the response was ‘evasive waffle’.

The UK government’s motion was in support of military action in Syria if it was backed up by evidence from United Nations weapons inspectors, who are investigating the attack.
