MSP welcomes Comhairle decision on bus review

Western Isles MSP, Alasdair Allan, has welcomed the decision by Comhairle nan Eilean Siar to commit to an urgent review of bus timetable arrangements in the Uists.

The new timetable came into effect earlier this year and has caused major issues for many people living in the area and reliant on these services to go about their day to day lives.

Alasdair Allan commented: “Whilst canvassing in Uist during the election campaign it was very obvious that there were significant levels of frustration within those communities about the new bus timetable and I raised this with the Comhairle.

“I am pleased to see the Comhairle have responded quickly and committed to a substantial review of the alterations that were made.

“At the moment the shortcomings in the service in Uist are having a profound impact on many people travelling to their place of employment, education, doctor or after-school activity.

“I understand the review will mainly be conducted through community councils and so I would urge constituents who have been affected by the change in services to engage with, and make their views known to, their respective community councils.”
