Here are the crime reports and police information for edition October 1, 2015.

At about 3.30pm, September 26, a 25-year-old male was found in possession of a Class C drug in Stornoway. He will be reported to the Procurator Fiscal.

Breach of the Peace
Following reports of a disturbance on Lewis Street at about 7pm, September 26, a 21-year-old male is to be reported to Stornoway Sheriff Court for breach of the peace.

Police would like to remind citizens that many of the acts of vandalism reported in last week’s Gazette are still on-going lines of enquiry.

They urge anyone with knowledge on who has committed vandalism to report it on the 101 number.


About 9am, September 28, a 38-year-old male was issued with a Fixed Penalty Notice for using a mobile phone whilst driving.

Doorstep crime campaign

Police have launched a national campaign to beat doorstep crime. Operation Monarda raises awareness of a crime which impacts on the most vulnerable members of the community and often leaves victims too embarrassed to go to the police. This phase will focuses on protecting people with disabilities from doorstep crime and cold callers.
