The An Lanntair arts centre in Stornoway has announced that new funding will help them to deliver an ambitious engagement project.

The centre received £89, 000 from Creative Scotland to deliver youth engagement project ‘Uncharted’, which will run until May 2016 and provide arts education throughout the islands.

Uncharted will engage young people from primary school age upwards in a program of arts projects commissions, curatorial opportunities and also establish fully equipped arts ‘Hubs’ in four locations around the Isle of Lewis and Harris.

The arts centre already offers a wide range of education and outreach projects throughout the Outer Hebrides; working closely with schools, community groups and offering a range of workshops and classes.

In 2013 they provided more than 6,000 creative learning opportunities for people.

And Uncharted will allow staff to build on the existing program and bring the arts to more people across the region.
