A new tool to help young islander’s secure employment, training and apprenticeship opportunities has been launched in the islands.
The free to use Western Isles Youth Opportunity portal (WIYO) can be accessed on-line and by Facebook and Twitter users.
WIYO was developed and is managed by the Include-Us team who support young people aged 14-19 years to develop enterprise skills, entrepreneurial initiatives and new business start-up opportunities.
Include-Us worker Jonathan MacIver said: “WIYO is a great tool young people can use to source employment, apprenticeship opportunities and vocational training.
“If WIYO can’t link a person with suitable opportunities, it can sign-post them to places and people who can further enhance a young person’s options.”
Local businesses are being encouraged to use WIYO.
“Many businesses already use Facebook and Twitter to promote their work,” added Jonathan.
“The Include-Us team will be delighted to hear from any young person or any local employer interested in using WIYO - businesses can advertise their jobs and training opportunities on WIYO free of charge.”
