In a ‘pre-tour’ tour, top music maker Newton Faulkner returned to Stornoway this week with a show in An Lanntair arts centre on Tuesday, January 28th.
The night kicked off with support, local lad Colin Macleod, joined by Lewis lass Jane Hepburn on fiddle.
Having enjoyed performing at Celtic Connections the week before, Colin the jumped on the tour bus to accompany Newton for a number of dates through the Highlands and Islands.
After a rousing set from Colin it was time for Newton himself.
And in a set which lasted over an hour and a half, Newton clearly enjoyed himself, bantering with the crowds, cajoling folk to dance, and splitting the audience to get everyone singing backing vocals on a couple of tracks.
It was a great night, enjoyed by both audience and performers – Newton is not one to miss the next time he stops off on the islands!
