Nine year old Caitlin Fry from Stornoway has decided to raise some money for Lupus UK because her Mum, Louise, has the condition.
Lupus is an autoimmune disease where the immune system attacks healthy tissue causing damage to organs in the body.
Louise was diagnosed with severe Lupus 14 years ago and this has a big impact on the whole family.
October is Lupus Awareness month, so Caitlin decided to raise some money by ‘Going the Extra Mile’ for people with Lupus.
On Saturday 15th October she was joined by over 30 family and friends and they braved the bad weather to complete, a four mile walk, around Lews Castle Grounds successfully.
Caitlin initially set out to raise £20 for Lupus UK but she has raised over £600 to date.
Her mum is extremely proud of her efforts and very grateful for everyone who has helped out.
Special thanks to the Coop Macaulay Road for donating bananas and water and to Mackinnon Dancers for donating medals for the walkers.
