North West Allstars brought back the silverware after they competed at the North of Scotland Cheer and Dance Championships Cheer Festival in Inverness earlier this month.

The squad attended with 37 dancers and cheerleaders aged 10 - 20 and brought home a splendid total of 14 trophies for their efforts.

The squad took home first place in Senior Cheer (NWA Scarlet), Senior Hip Hop (NWA Hype) and Youth Hip Hop (NWA Fresh); as well as second place in Youth Pom (NWA Ebony), and fourth places in Senior Pom and Youth Jazz.

Solo NWA dancer and coach Kayleigh Nicolson also took home first place in the category of Hip Hop Solo, closely followed by Leah Beaton in 2nd; and first place in Hip Hop duet alongside Leah Beaton.

Youth pom duets came in with Anna Macaulay and Mia Hartley Oliver in third place, Angela Horne and Eilidh Macdonald in fourth place and Tori Mackinnon and Krysta Bray in fifth place.

Coaches Kirstie Anderson and Kayleigh Nicolson are incredibly proud of all the teams that competed, against some very impressive squads from around Scotland.

“We couldn’t be prouder of our amazing girls who have worked so hard all year round,” said Kayleigh. “They represented the squad and the island with a great sporting attitude, lots of determination and pulled out all of the stops on the day!”

Kirstie added: “We currently have spaces for our new season which starts in September. Classes are open to young people aged five to 14 this year with both competitive and recreational classes in cheerleading, hip hop, jazz and pom dance.

“It’s a great team to be involved, a fun way for girls to learn new skills, keep fit and meet lots of new friends.”
