Official opening of St Moluag's restored path

The wind and rain of the Islands have taken their toll over the years and St Moluag's Church in Eoropaidh recently needed some work to its path.

The 270 metre pathway leading to the church from the roadside had become increasingly difficult to traverse due to being boggy with mud and water.

Due to its historical significance, St Moluag’s receives many visitors throughout the year and it was felt the condition of the path needed to be addressed.

Rev Terry Taggart explained the process to upgrade the path: “We were extremely fortunate to be able to secure a grant of £1,000 towards the estimated maximum cost of £7,000 from the Galson Community Investment Fund.

“Because of a spate of decent weather the work on the path was was completed well within the six weeks estimated. Now the path is a vast improvement on what it looked like before.”

Saturday, September 3rd saw the official opening of the pathway and The Lord Lt Sandy Matheson kindly did the honours. Afterwards there was a small thanksgiving ceremony at the Church then some refreshments were enjoyed. day.
