Outdoor Mod celebration

IF YOU fancy a little live music entertainment this weekend then Perceval Square is the place to be on Saturday afternoon as the venue provides the backdrop for an outdoor fundraising event in aid of the 2011 Royal National Mod.

Those providing the entertainment include Coisir Og a Bhac, NYCoS Lewis Choir, Stornoway Big Band, Stornoway Melodians, Laxdale Junior Gaelic Choir, Oidhche Chiadain, along with many more

The Local Organising Committee will play host to members from the Northern Branches of An Comunn Gaidhealach, who have jointly organised the event and will be also providing some of the performers during the day and evening.

Members from the Local Committee will also be present throughout the afternoon, selling tickets for the Mod Raffle which offers a prize of £1,500 travel vouchers courtesy of Co-operative Travel; £500 spending money and return flights to the mainland courtesy of Loganair, as well as various other prizes.

A Ceilidh and Dance will follow on Saturday evening in the Royal British Legion, starting at 8pm and featuring Raymond Bremner; Charlie MacColl; Jean Mackay; Ceitidh Smith; Jimmy Cameron; Robert Robertson and the Iain Alex Campbell Band.

Should the weather be unfavourable during Saturday afternoon, the Perceval Square entertainment will be moved indoors to the Royal British Legion also.

And in the evening there will be a licensed bar and raffle. Entry to the Ceilidh Dance on Saturday evening will be £7/£5.
