A special message from the Queen as Stornoway care home resident Jessie turns 100

A Stornoway care home resident was delighted to receive the congratulations of the Queen as she celebrated her 100th birthday.

Jessie Maciver was delighted to receive a telegram from the Queen on her 100th birthday.

Jessi MacIver, a resident at HC-One’s Blar Buidhe care home, turned 100 on August 23 and was delighted to receive cards and presents from all her family and friends from across the Western Isles.

And, as is tradition, Her Majesty the Queen sent Jessie a special telegram, celebrating her reaching 100 years of age.

The telegram read: “I am so pleased to know that you are celebrating your one hundredth birthday on 23rd August 2020.

“I send my congratulations and best wishes to you on such a special occasion.”

Blar Buidhe Home Manager Donald Macintosh said: “All the staff at Blar Buidhe send their love and best wishes to Jessie.

“It was a privilege to celebrate this special day with her.”
