NHS Western Isles ‘of opinion’ corona-virus not circulating in island communities

Following the announcement yesterday (Tuesday) that a seventh case of COVID-19 has been confirmed in the Western Isles, the Chief Executive of NHS Western Isles, Gordon Jamieson, has said that the health authority is “of the opinion” that corona-virus “is not actively circulating in our community”.

Mr Jamieson’s comments came in a video posted on NHSWI’s social media pages on Tuesday night, and in the video Mr Jamieson also confirmed that ‘Trace and Isolate’ procedures were underway.

The case was the first reported in the Western Isles since early April, and in a statement issued on Tuesday, NHSWI confirmed that the individual was well and was isolating at home on the Isle of Lewis.
