Plea to join the global campaign to free Imprisoned Baha’is

Bahais in the Western Isles, in different localities, privately and publicly have been reaching out to friends and neighbours to remember and pray for the release of imprisoned Bahai leaders in Iran.

A spokesperson for the local group said: “Our hope is that people of the Western Isles, along with people around the world will organise spirited actions, reach out to MP and MSP, the society at large, and involve friends and family in an effort to draw attention to the plight of the Bahai leaders who are unjustly been imprisoned in Iran.

“Running for seven days (May 14th to 21st), the global campaign is highlighting seven years of unjust imprisonment for the Yaran (friends), the seven members of the former ad hoc leadership group of Iran’s Baha’i community, who are now serving 20-year sentences.”

An event Facebook page in both English and Persian has been set up as rallying points for activity and awareness, use hashtag #7Bahais7years to support the campaign or find out more at: website
